When I started painting 6 years ago I was very drawn to water colours. Unfortunately I wasn't able to achieve the effect I wanted. After years of classes, and no real progress, I decided to change to oils. I love strong colours and strong shapes and with help from my new teacher, Niamh Harding Miller, I found my forte. I hope you enjoy looking at the paintings as much as enjoyed painting them!
Many of my paintings are inspired by nature. I have visited Australia on many occasions and have come home full of ideas. This Australian Frilled Lizard is a wedding present for my youngest daughter.
One of the themes for art class this year was hyperbole. I based this painting on a photo I took on a camel trek near Ayers Rock in Australia.
While visiting the barrier reef I took the plunge and challenged one of my fears - deep sea diving. It was an experience I will never forget. I took many photos and this painting is based on one of those. My grandson, always looking for drama, asked me to include a shark!
